The Granite State

A brief introduction to golf in the state of New Hampshire

For much of the population in our nation, golf is not something they may ever think about when they come to the state of New Hampshire. Despite this likely reality, the ultimate truth is that golf in the Granite State is nothing short of spectacular.

Perhaps one of the most overlooked areas in the country to play golf, the White Mountains is home to several historic and wonderful courses with breathtaking scenery, including the Mt. Washington Course and the Maplewood, both designed by Donald Ross, and the Waumbek, a recently restored Arthur Fenn design from the turn of the century.

Some of the state's courses have gained reputations for being some of the toughest in the region. The Shattuck has solidified itself as an infamous test amongst New England golfers and even on past hardest course lists by golfing magazines, and the Arnold Palmer designed Golf Club of New England was the host of the 2012 US Junior Amateur championship and plays at over 7600 yards from the back tees.

There truly is something for everyone in the golfing landscape of New Hampshire, and it is a pleasure for The New England Player to explore all that is has to offer.
